Why Boston Surf Adventures

Built different. Taught better.

BSA is the only surf school in New England founded and led by a professional educator. That means safety, structure, and genuine youth development - not just surfing.

Education first

Led by educators

Our founder has 15+ years of professional teaching experience and thousands of students taught. No other surf camp understands child development the way we do.

Safety

Certified lifeguards

Every in-water coach is a certified lifeguard. All on-land staff is CPR certified. Coaches are trained in custom rescue techniques by our owner.

Closest to Boston

25 min from downtown

Less than 10 minutes from Swampscott and Marblehead. 35 minutes from Brookline, 40 from Newton and Lexington, 50 from Wayland.

Gear

All included

Surfboards and wetsuits provided for every camper. Campers are welcome to bring their own gear if they prefer.

Groups

Age grouped

Campers are grouped by age so they learn alongside peers and make new friends naturally. Max 5 students per coach.

What they'll learn

Real skills

Paddling, popping up, wave reading, ocean safety, rip currents, surf etiquette, and - when ready - riding down the line.

A day at camp

Twice in the water. Games in between.

Every day follows the same rhythm - on-land skill work, first surf session, lunch under the canopy, beach games, second surf session.

10:00
Drop-off and warm-up
Meet at beach entrance #9. Coaches greet campers, run through the day, and kick off with a fun on-land game that teaches an in-water skill.
10:30 to 12:00
Session 1 in the water
First surf session of the day. Small groups, consistent waves, lots of repetitions. Coaches are in the water with campers the whole time.
12:00
Lunch break
Under the shaded canopy. Campers eat their own lunch while coaches run a quick debrief. Coolers available for anything that needs to stay cold.
12:30
Beach games
Spike Ball, Capture the Flag, and more. Games keep energy up and warm everyone up for the second session.
12:45 to 2:00
Session 2 in the water
Second session with the morning's coaching locked in. Campers almost always feel a difference. We finish on a high note.
2:00
Pick-up
Pick-up at entrance #9 at 2PM sharp. Parents are welcome to watch from the beach but cannot participate in camp activities.

Questions

Things parents ask.

Yes. Campers must be able to tread water for 30 seconds and swim one lap in a pool without assistance.
Nahant has some of the most consistent kid-friendly waves in New England. Even on small days, our big boards catch everything. When waves get large, we keep campers in the whitewater where it is safe. We will never take your child out in conditions we deem unsafe.
Yes. We do not cancel on rainy days - surfing is a water sport. On the rare day we do cancel, we will give as much advance notice as possible and issue a refund for that day.
Full refunds are available up to 30 days before camp starts. After 30 days we are unable to refund the camp fee, but you are welcome to transfer your spot to another camper.
Absolutely. Parents are welcome to stay at the beach, take photos, and watch - but cannot participate in camp activities. Drop-off and pick-up are both at beach entrance #9 at Nahant Long Beach.
Yes. Campers are welcome to sign up for as many weeks as they like. Skills build week over week and many campers return multiple times each summer.
