Progression
Membership.

The fastest way to move up the BSA ladder. A recurring membership that puts you in the water with a coach every week - same group, same beach, same progression system - until you're ready for the next level.

3 tiers Year-round Coach-led sessions
Why a membership

Consistency is the secret.

Everyone who surfs well got there the same way: repetition over time. Not one intensive week, not a lesson every few months - steady, coached repetition at the same break, building muscle memory session by session.

Membership locks in your spot, locks in your coach, and gives you the kind of progressive feedback that only comes from someone who's watched you surf twenty times and knows exactly what to work on next.

Getting started

Simple. Show up. Improve.

Membership is designed to remove friction. No booking every week, no worrying about whether your coach knows where you left off. You just show up.

01

Pick your tier

Choose how often you want to be in the water. You can upgrade or downgrade any time - just let us know.

02

Get matched with a coach

We match you with a coach based on your current level and availability. That coach is yours for as long as you're a member.

03

Sessions booked monthly

We send your session schedule at the start of each month. Nahant Long Beach, weather-adjusted if needed, same drill every weekend.

04

Move up the ladder

Your coach assesses your level on an ongoing basis. When you hit the pass criteria for your level, you're officially promoted. It's earned, not given.

The system

Built around the ladder.

BSA's ten-level progression system is the backbone of every membership. Each session has a goal. Each level has a pass criteria. You don't move up because you've been surfing long enough - you move up because your coach has watched you do the thing.

Membership members get a written level report card each month: where you are, what you're close to passing, what to focus on next session. Set Wave and Local tiers also receive access to video clips from their sessions so they can watch their own progress.

Questions

Good to know.

Any level. Memberships are open from Level 0 (complete beginner) through Level 9. We match you with a coach and a group that's at your level.
Year-round at Nahant Long Beach. Spring and fall have smaller lineups and often better conditions for progression. Winter sessions run with appropriate wetsuits - 5/4mm fullsuits, included in your membership.
Life happens. Give us a heads-up as early as you can and we will roll your session to a future weekend whenever possible.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade between tiers - just reach out and we'll take care of it. A lot of members start on Groundswell, get hooked, and move up to Set Wave.
Nothing. Board and wetsuit are included in every session. Once you reach Level 3–4, we'll start recommending boards that might be worth owning - but that's a conversation, not a requirement.
Just email us and we'll cancel, no questions asked. We're not a gym. If it's not working, we want to know why - not keep your money.
